Mineral wealth of the district-
The physical condition of the district is made up of rock of Gondwana rock. It is a part of the Eastern Baghelkhand Plateau. Red-yellow soil is found here. Coal i.e. Black Diamond of budding MCB districtIt is a major mineral resource. The Chirmiri coalfield is situated in the south of the district. Kurasia, Domnaheil, Gelhapani etc. grade A and B type coal is obtained which is extracted by open cast and underground mining system. The office of the General Manager of the South East Coal Field is also located in the district headquarter Manendragarh.
