Chhattisgarh Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana
In view of the difficulties faced by poor families regarding marriage of girls in the state, “Chhattisgarh Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana” has been implemented by the state government.
Scheme objective:- Prevention of economic difficulties faced by poor families in the context of marriage of girls, prevention of extravagance on the occasion of marriage and promotion of simple marriage, increase in morale/self-esteem through organizing mass marriages and their Improvement in social status and prevention of dowry transactions in marriages.
Assistance under the scheme:- Families living below the poverty line / maximum 02 girls of the age of 18 or more than 18 years of the cardholder family under the Chief Minister’s food grains scheme, are to be provided benefits under the scheme. Under the scheme, there is a provision to spend a maximum amount of Rs. 25000/- for the marriage of each girl, in which amount of Rs. 5000/- for makeup material for the bride and groom, Rs. 14000/- for other gift material, amount in the form of bank draft to the bride. 1000/- and can be spent on organizing mass marriages up to the amount per girl child.
Beneficiaries under the scheme are identified by the Anganwadi worker and after verification through the supervisor, the application is submitted to the Women and Child Development Department office and the beneficiaries are benefitted.
